Friesian
The Friesian hails from Friesland in the Netherlands. It is believed the breed is a descendant of the wild Forest Horse. It was originally bred as a draft but slowly became a light draft horse once Andalusian blood was added. The breed is iconically known for its black coat, long manes and tails, and beautiful feathered feet. Historically the breed has been used as mounts for knights, agriculture and harness work. Today, the Friesian is in demand for its conformation, dressage ability, and benefit to crossbreeders.
