Clydesdale

The Clydesdale is a draft breed developed in Scotland during the 17th century, their main purpose was farm work and the transportation of goods. The progenitor of the breed is known as the “Lampits Mare”, who was born in 1806 and is the most prominent ancestor of the current Clydesdale. The breed’s numbers declined heavily after the First World War, though they gained much popularity in Australia and became the country’s most common draft breed during that time. Despite the modern mechanization of the breed’s original purpose, Clydesdales remain a well-known breed to this day and are highly valued as carriage horses. The breed is considered vulnerable to extinction however, and efforts to stabilize them are still ongoing.

Though it is frequently mistaken for Sabino, the gene that causes flashy white markings in Clydesdales is still not fully known. However the “W20” gene has been confirmed to be present in the breed, so this is used to create white markings for Clydesdales in-game. To keep the breed’s look more diverse, Clydesdales have two artwork variations for both heterozygous and homozygous W20 in Horse Fable. This means Clydesdales can have 4 different looks from just a single gene!
