The American Azteca and Azteca were bred as a ranch horse to fulfill the desires of Mexican Charros. Both the Quarter Horse and Paint Horse were bred with Andalusian to achieve this goal. These crosses are distinct and called American Azteca (Paint x Andalusian) and Azteca (Quarter Horse x Andalusian).

American Aztecas and Aztecas come in all colors accepted by their parent breeds.
