Crossbreeding and Generic Crosses

Crossbreeding occurs when you breed any two horses together that are not the same breed. There are several recognized crossbreeds with more being added. New crossbreeds are added when a club completes a crossbreed campaign.

Generic Crosses

Any horse that is not purebred or a recognized crossbreed will be a generic crossbreed. These horses display in generic breed art and are either:

  • Draft
  • Light Draft
  • Light
  • Stock
  • Pony

Generic crosses are used to create Grade Horses and horses for club crossbreed campaigns.

Generic Cross Body Types

Generic crossbreed body types that are 50/50 crosses follows a calculations below. Crosses that are 50/25/25, 75/25 etc. will default to the largest body type %. In a 50% draft, 25% pony, and 25% stock, the outcome will be a draft body type. However, in cases where all % are equal, 33/33/33, a heirarchy will be followed of: Draft> Light Draft> Light > Stock> Pony

A 50% Arabian, 25% Appaloosa, and 25% Andalusian comes out to being 50% Light body and 50% stock body. Using the hierarchy, the displaying generic body type will be Light.

A 50% Thoroughbred (light) , 25% Andalusian (stock) and 25% Irish Draught (draft). These body types of 50% light, 25% stock, and 25% draft means the displaying generic cross art will be Light.

For recognized crossbreed the body types are as follows. However, if you cross a recognized crossbreed and create a generic cross, it will follow the rules in the “Generic Cross Body Types” tab based on the purebred percentages

An Araloosa x Hispano Arabe will be 50% Arabian, 25% Appaloosa, and 25% Andalusian. This comes out to being 50% Light body and 50% stock body. Using the hierarchy in the “Generic Cross Body Types” tab the displaying generic body type will be Light.

An Irish Sport Horse x  Iberian Warmblood will be 50% Thoroughbred (light) , 25% Andalusian (stock) and 25% Irish Draught (draft). These body types of 50% light, 25% stock, and 25% draft means the displaying generic cross art will be Light.
